Making Therapy Work For You
Therapy isn’t just what happens between us in my office. It is also learning how to apply changes you want to make to your day-to-day life. Therapy is more effective when it is collaborative. That means that we work together to build sufficient trust to be able to offer each other feedback on what is working, and what seems not to be working. It is helpful if you make a commitment to work between sessions. This may be reading, writing in a journal, or trying something new. You will never be required to do anything that makes you uncomfortable; but you may choose to do something new, which may be uncomfortable at first. Please know that I am by your side as you think about your situation, share what is bothering you, and take steps in the direction you believe is best for you.
